Seriously, God...do we have to be so open with others?
Being vulnerable is hard for so many long-term Christians, especially those of us who are deep into their church cultures and communities or others who haven’t experienced Jesus in a long time. When eyes are on you, can you risk showing weakness and inconsistency? If in your community you can empathically say yes to that question then here’s a high five✋ . If you are like some of us, we made this community for you as a safe place away from home or a pitstop before going back.
It is hard being open, but with each of our posts we are going to go first into the abyss of vulnerability. Why do we think we need more vulnerability…because we believe some of you need more chances to cry, laugh, and be reminded that others share in your struggles. Together we need reminded that there is joy in our salvation. In the Psalms, David and others bared it all to God, but ended their prayers with hope. There is still hope for us.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:12
Our team is scared you will judge them for their life choices, bad habits, inconsistent theology, and, at times, lack of faith. We don’t celebrate our struggles, but we know we feel tension between the Spirit and flesh and do not hide it for your edification. We pray with every post and your comments that your faith in Jesus Christ will be renewed and restored. We are work-in-progress Christians, so let’s heal together and testify of God’s goodness because God’s power is perfected in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Tag, we are it. Don’t judge us too much as we bear our conflicted souls in our writing, videos, and music selection. We are going to start soon and once we do we will showcase more authors and their unique journeys as we go. Each time we share we pray you will be reminded you aren’t alone, Christ wants you back, and it’s time to confront the skeletons buried in your heart’s backyard. In your comments and messages share back with us your wayward stories and questions because there is no shame here with us. I’ll be first off the diving board. See you in the water.
Blessings,
